Ian Huntress
No words can express our sadness. Ian Huntress, a beloved lab member, passed away on March 26, 2023, following organ transplant complications.
Ian was a Bioinformatics PhD student, interested in machine learning and molecular biology, particularly predicting the functions of long noncoding RNAs. His computational predictions informed many of our experimental methods in the lab and have led to exciting discoveries. He was in the final stages of his dissertation work and would have been graduating later this year.
Ian was a wonderful person and team member. He was funny, with lots of interesting ideas. He was always positive and worked hard, despite the health challenges he faced. Please visit Ian’s Obituary (https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/swansea-ma/ian-huntress-11229740) to learn about him.
Ian was awarded a posthumous PhD in Bioinformatics degree in Fall 2023. His families and lab members attended the Graduation Ceremony on Saturday December 16th, 2023: https://youtu.be/8LOFSXq3djg?t=2188
We all will miss him and the joy that he brought to all of us.
